Emily graduated from Williams College with a major in Geology and Earth Sciences. After a number of years working on linguistic analysis and information retrieval at a burgeoning Internet start-up, she left the corporate world to attend a graduate program in Science Illustration at UC Santa Cruz.
The university program led to an internship at Scientific American, where, among other engaging projects, she had the opportunity to hire the talented Bryan Christie as an illustrator. Bryan later returned the favor, and Emily spent several productive years working closely with his design firm, exploring the potential of 3D computer modeling in creating effective and beautiful images. She now works independently, and her illustrations regularly appear in a variety of magazines, books, and websites.
Emily's illustrations combine elegance with accuracy, often requiring extensive research of the subject at hand. She is able to call on her science background and technical business experience to enhance her understanding of a wide range of topics.
